When a company fails, the boardroom is where the questions land. Where was the challenge? Who asked the difficult questions? And what happens when ethics collide with pressure to perform, grow, or protect a reputation?
Join us for an engaging Boardroom Talk as we compare two of the most talked-about corporate failures of recent decades: Purdue Pharma and Theranos. The industries and the stories are very different, but both raise the same uncomfortable question about board oversight. We will explore how risk was managed, where challenge was missing, which warning signs were overlooked, and how ethical culture was tested under pressure. Most importantly, we will look at the lessons directors can apply to strengthen governance and build more resilient, accountable organisations.
The session will be chaired by two excellent speakers, Ana Andres PhD and Dr Dominique Eggermont. Drawing on their extensive boardroom experience and governance expertise, they will lead an interactive discussion encouraging participants to reflect on the board's role in risk oversight, ethical leadership, and constructive challenges.
