About Event

On Wednesday 13th May, we are running a body doubling session from 12 noon to 1:30pm GMT over Zoom for AMASE members.

The Plan

7:00-7:15

To help with accountability, at the start of the session each person can (optionally) state their plans for what they want to achieve during the session (e.g. "tidy my room", "cook dinner" or "send that email I keep putting off"). You can do this verbally and/or in the chat.

If you're not sure what exactly you want to do during the session, that's okay too. You can use it as a chance to make - and perhaps start - a to-do list, for example.

7:15-8:15

"Doing" time! We will aim to give a solid hour to do the task (or tasks) you have decided on.

As a rule, we ask that mics are muted during the "doing" section to avoid distracting others.

8:15-8:30

A chance to (optionally) talk about what you managed to get done and any issues you faced. We will also ask for feedback about the session went and if you would like to see anything done differently in future.

Ground Rules & Other Info

  • If you'd like to take part but don't want to talk, that's okay! We also welcome participation via the Zoom chat.

  • Having cameras on can help some people to feel focussed and engaged in body doubling, but you are welcome to have your camera on or off.

  • You are welcome to join or leave at any point during the session, although please be aware that if you join from 7:15-8:15, we may take a while to notice you in the waiting room and admit you to the call.

  • If you have something you'd like to work on with someone else, we can provide breakout rooms during the session - just let us know during the session. A breakout room will give you your own space to chat in with the option to have mics turned on

Accessibility & support

When signing up, there is a question where you can let us know about any accessibility and/or support needs that you don't think we've already considered.

This is an autistic community event, so we expect everyone to be welcoming of different communication styles, stimming and other different ways of being.

Nervous about coming along?

If you are in our Discord server, feel free to visit the #amase-events channel to ask who else is coming along, post any questions or express any worries. If you're nervous about something, it probably isn't just you!

Please note

This event is open to AMASE members only.
