AFIYA Nigeria Stakeholder Convening
FSD Africa, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing the Accelerating Financial Resilience and Insurance for Young African Women in Agrifood Systems (AFIYA) Programme — expanding access to gender-intentional agricultural insurance and complementary financial services for vulnerable young women smallholder farmers and agri-preneurs across Africa.
Climate change is eroding financial resilience across sub-Saharan Africa, deepening income volatility and limiting access to credit. Young women smallholder farmers and agri-preneurs are among those most exposed, yet uptake of agricultural insurance among this group remains very low, constrained by limited product availability, low financial literacy, weak distribution channels, and policy environments still catching up with innovation.
The AFIYA Nigeria Stakeholder Convening brings together senior leaders from Nigeria's insurance, banking, agriculture, public sector, development finance and technical partner ecosystems to formally introduce AFIYA to the Nigerian market, build strategic alignment among partners, and identify concrete opportunities for collaboration.
