Wanna Come Plane Spotting // FIRST EVENT // LHR Plane Spotting // 14th March 2026 @ 14:00
This is your captain speaking… ✈️
We’re cleared for our first ever Wanna Come Plane Spotting community meet-up — and you’re now invited to begin boarding...
📍 Where: Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5 (Terrace with a cracking view)
🗓️ When: Saturday 14 March
🕑 Time: 2:00pm arrivals / mingle + meet the crew
🕒 3:00pm-ish: runway ops often switch, and we get that chef’s-kiss vantage of departures on Runway 09L
💸 Cost: FREE (your wallet stays in economy) — only ask: please make at least one purchase while you’re with us (hotel request too).
What’s the vibe?
Come say hi, meet other avgeeks (and allies), and watch the metal come in.
Full service bar (alcoholic + non-alcoholic).
Food available including veggie, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Stay as long or as little as you like — this is a no-pressure boarding process.
Getting there from the train station (Terminal 5)
If you arrive by Tube, Elizabeth line, Heathrow Express (hey big spender...) into Heathrow Terminal 5, the easiest route is the driverless Pods:
Follow signs to Arrivals inside Terminal 5.
From Arrivals, head towards the “Meeting Point North” area, then follow signs to the Business Car Park.
Take the lift up to Level 2 for the Pod station.
Ride the Pod to Pod Station B (it drops you a short walk from the hotel entrance).
Pods info: They typically take around 5 minutes and fare is listed as £8.25 per person per journey but... just press the 'call' button at the gate and they let you through. Shhhhh.
Plan B (no Pods / other issues): Taxi is quick, or there are local buses that run between Terminal 5 and nearby stops for the hotel area. CityMapper is your friend.
Weather + runway reality check 🌧️
If the weather is truly awful and runway ops mean we won’t get a decent view, we may need to cancel.
If it’s raining, we can still watch from inside — just know it might not be the full terrace experience. So maybe bring a brolly or your waterproof.
Also coming soon…
We’ve got a few extra bits we’re planning for the day (details to follow) — consider this the first call. You'll also get priority boarding for our next event.
Ready to line up for final approach?
Once you've registered can you do us a massive favour? If comfortable, can you post on Insta that you're coming and tag @Wannacomeplanespotting?
