A Different Way to Spend a Sunday
It's hard to make friends as an adult.
Public Life Collective (PLC) offers a different, low-pressure way to spend a Sunday afternoon with new people while exploring New York together.
PLC is a free monthly gathering for curious New Yorkers who want to experience the city, discover remarkable public places, and build new friendships through shared experiences.
Each gathering follows the same simple rhythm:
1:00 PM — Gather at a remarkable public place in Manhattan (south of Central Park).
2:00 PM — Take a leisurely walk through the city together.
3:00 PM — Linger somewhere worth spending the rest of the afternoon.
This isn't networking, dating, or a city tour. It's just an invitation to spend a Sunday afternoon together.
Many people will likely arrive on their own, though you're always welcome to bring a friend. There is no pressure to meet everyone, no agenda to follow, and no right way to participate.
Whether you're new to New York or have lived here for decades, each gathering is an opportunity to slow down, discover places you may have never noticed, and become part of a community that grows through repeated shared experiences.
A Few Shared Agreements
Bring your curiosity. We'll take care of the rest.
You don't need to know anyone or be especially outgoing. Just arrive curious about the city and the people around you.
Be present.
Phones are welcome for photos, directions, or emergencies. Otherwise, we encourage everyone to spend the afternoon with the people and places immediately in front of them.
First names only.
For a few hours, we leave titles and résumés behind. We use first names only, helping us meet one another as people before anything else.
Leave work behind.
Rather than asking, "What do you do?", discover the many other ways people can connect—with shared interests, observations, ideas, and curiosity.
