About Event

Hello dear community! We are a group of individuals who are passionate about healing justice and liberation. About us: https://melt.bloob.haus/about/

Please join us for a casual gathering of bodywork, massage therapy skillsharing, care exchange, and connection.
* You do not need to have any prior experience with bodywork to participate!
* Free to attend. Suggested donation of $10-30; all proceeds go towards our community mutual aid fund: bit.ly/meltmaf. Venmo @sticky-pan with "melt maf" in the description to donate.
* You are welcome to bring a buddy to practice with, or come alone and pair up here.

RSVP is required! Space is limited and we cannot guarantee entry for folks who arrive without an RSVP. We will close this form at ~24 rsvps.

Bodywork and massage therapy is one way for us to care for our bodies and each other. These forms of care are often inaccessible to communities who need it most. With this gathering, we aim to:
1. Facilitate a bodywork and massage skillshare, to build up more individuals with the skills and knowledge to heal and care for all our communities.
2. Open a space for community connection and healing. Healing is a crucial form of connection. When we heal another, we heal ourselves and our community.

When: 6-9pm, on Monday, October 5th, 2026.

Where: Open Doors, Berkeley (address revealed once you RSVP).

What to expect:

5:45pm ~ Covid test arrival.
6:00pm ~ Arrival and settling. We will begin promptly at 6:30. To honor our skillsharers and the group container, please arrive no later than 6:25pm.
6:30pm - 8:30pm ~ Quads and hip flexors massage -- skillshare with Whitney
8:30pm - 9pm ~ Potluck and jam

When was the last time you gave your legs some love? They do a lot of work supporting us all day, yet are often neglected. We will be teaching simple massage techniques on how to loosen up the muscles and fascia in our quads, including some of the major hip flexors. If you sit all day for work, drive a lot, or simply just want to learn about the quads, this is the workshop for you.

Additional notes:
- We encourage you to sign up with a buddy that you feel comfortable practicing with. During the gathering you may give/receive more widely on/from strangers, if you feel comfortable doing so. Most folks will practice both receiving and giving bodywork, and you can always opt out of one or both of these.
- As a skillshare gathering, folks will bring variable levels of bodywork experience, from experienced practitioners to first-timers. There will be some element of choice in who you choose to practice with, and we also encourage interconnection across communities. We will foreground consent throughout the gathering. Please check in with yourself on whether this event is right for you before signing up. If you have questions, please note them in this form and we'll make an effort to respond.
- If you signed up but are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can open up your slot.

What to bring:
1. Something to share for the potluck :-) (we're not providing dinner, so it's recommended to snack a little beforehand, but we'd like to invite a dinner-ish potluck atmosphere during the jam).
2. A picnic blanket or yoga mat, if you have one. Extra are always welcome!
3. Layers to wear, and also to use as pillows or cushions.

Other preparation notes:
1. Please refrain from wearing any perfumes or fragrances. Since we will be working closely with each other’s bodies, we want to be conscious of those with scent sensitivities allergies.
2. If you can, shower the day of the event, or the day before at the very least. Out of respect for each other’s comfort and hygiene, please arrive with a clean body, and apply deodorant if needed.
3. Avoid eating a large meal right before the event.

Covid and safety precautions: Especially because this is an intergenerational and healing-centered space, we are requiring extra covid precautions. We will be meeting indoors. Furthermore, by attending, you agree to:
1. Stay home if you have any symptoms or have had a recent exposure (including non-Covid symptoms).
2. Upon arrival, present proof of a negative rapid Covid test, taken in the previous 24 hours. We will be checking these at the door.
3. Alert the organizers if you test positive for Covid in the days after the event.
Note that we will NOT be requiring masks during the event for comfort's sake.

Filming and media consent: We want to capture the sweetness of this gathering! Please note that by RSVPing and attending, you are consenting to be photographed and filmed. We would like to put together a recap video of the skillshare and jam to share the magic of this space and support our future mutual aid efforts. If you’re feeling camera-shy or have specific privacy concerns, please come chat with Whitney or Vicki at the start of the night so we can be mindful of your space~

With care + connection,

Whitney + Vicki
