About Event

The first mile of a global supply chain — the farm, the plot, the forest edge — is where environmental impact begins and where, until recently, almost no reliable data existed. That gap is now the single biggest obstacle standing between companies and a fast-growing wall of regulation, due diligence law, and climate risk.

During London Climate Action Week, Epoch and WWF are bringing together a wider community of partners, advisors, investors, and sustainability, trade, and finance leaders to explore what becomes possible when you can see the first mile clearly.

Over drinks and a series of short, practical presentations, we'll trace a single thread: from trade compliance at one end to risk management, financing, and insurance at the other — and show how the same first-mile data underpins all of it.

We'll cover:

  • Codex Planetarius — a unifying set of standards to harmonize global environmental trade regulations, giving producers, buyers, and regulators one common language instead of a patchwork of overlapping rules.

  • 35 data points, 25+ frameworks — how just 35 data points captured at the first mile map to over 25 global trade regulations, supply chain due diligence laws, and reporting and risk-management frameworks. Capture it once at origin; satisfy many obligations downstream.

  • From hazard to vulnerability — how landscape assessments translate into highly accurate vulnerability assessments for natural hazards and physical climate risks, moving beyond generic exposure maps to location-specific intelligence.

  • Financing and insurance for adaptation, not just mitigation — how capital and risk-transfer instruments can play a critical role not only in mitigation, but in helping businesses and their global supply chains adapt to a more volatile climate.

Expect findings from recent field work, a candid look at where the regulatory landscape is heading, and plenty of time to connect with the people building the infrastructure for a more transparent, resilient trade system.

Who should attend

This is an intimate, invite-led gathering. We're starting with our extended community — partners, advisors, and investors — and opening it to a select wider audience, including:

  • Sustainability, ESG, and responsible-sourcing leads at producers, traders, and consumer brands

  • Supply chain, procurement, and trade compliance teams navigating EUDR, CSDDD, CSRD, and related regimes

  • Banks, insurers, asset managers, and natural-capital investors working on climate risk, financing, and adaptation

  • NGOs, standards bodies, and policymakers shaping the future of environmental trade regulation
