💃 🤯 NYC'S HOTTEST TECH/NO PARTY RETURNS 🤯🕺

Join us and get your hands dirty (figuratively) with "sandbox" demos by creative technologists, in partnership with AIR (AI Residency)!

This special edition of STUDY HALL will feature participatory workshops with inventive new works. We're calling it "sandboxing." Expect to chime in, take part, and try things together!

Pedro Sanches will lead a session with his app Spells, a group chat where you can vibe-code with your friends.

Yujin Lee will lead a workshop of her product KO, a friend with good taste who always texts back.

Maxime Heckel will showcase his "atmosphere scattering shaders:" real-time renderings of the sky, sunsets, planets, and more. He'll tease a forthcoming written piece, and you'll play a role in visualizing!

Finally, we encourage you to bring your own works-in-progress for getting feedback and ideas from friends. No pressure to be perfect, and mistakes welcome!

RUN OF SHOW:
6pm: Doors open (grab dumplings and drinks!)
6:30pm: "Sandbox" Creative Workshops with AIR
7:30pm: Community Show and Tell
8pm: Afterparty!

NO TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! BAFFLEMENT AND BEMUSEMENT WELCOME. CAN'T COME? MARK "CAN'T GO" TO GET ON THE LIST FOR VOL. 7. TELL FRIENDS WITH WEIRD + COOL IDEAS❗️🧠

FEATURES

Pedro Sanches leads WIP.llc, his creative studio. He’s made generative designs for Telfar, Spotify, Google, and more. Originally from Brazil, raised in Switzerland and Mexico, and now in New York, Pedro likes to make the internet a weirder and more beautiful place. Don't get him started on open-source democracy.

Yujin Lee is a statistician who did quant research at AQR, data science at Robinhood and dYdX, and somehow also published on exoplanet photometry at Stanford. Now she's building KO, an AI friend who helps you discover your taste. Ask her about East Asian films… and picking up acting.

Maxime Heckel is a frontend engineer at Linear (ex Tango, Docker). He also runs a blog that teaches developers about shaders, WebGL/WebGPU, and more—a cult resource for those making interesting technical things. Ask him about outer space, and about running. AIR (AI Residency) backs creative technologists and increases their potential through capital, community, and conviction.

HOSTS

Charlie Freiberg is a soothsayer-saleswoman in NYC. Her "storytelling" (ex-Cultural Counsel) makes people love and pay you. She can guess your childhood trauma in < 10 minutes.

Zak Hap is an engineer and serial startup boy (Liminal Media, Odefi, Commonwealth Labs) based in NYC. Ask him about sacred Japanese music.

Photo: Nan Goldin, "C.Z. and Max on the Beach", Truro, Massachusetts, 1976.
