Abstract:
How do findings from animal toxicity studies relate to human drug safety, and what patterns emerge when we examine them across drugs? We assembled a harmonized resource of more than 100,000 toxicity findings across more than 1,000 drugs from regulatory review documents across five different government agencies. This talk will explore two complementary views of these data: animal-to-human concordance using drug labels and adverse-event reports, and network-derived toxicity profiles that reveal which effects occur together and how drugs with shared findings align with established drug classes. Bringing these views together provides a framework for examining which patterns translate to humans, where they diverge, and how drug class and biological context shape their interpretation.
