Thinking Together Without Interrupting
There is one thing that all collaborations have in common: the sharing of words.
Sometimes we share words to get our point across, sometimes to get ideas, opinions or feedback. To have a productive conversation with a pleasant outcome for all parties is not always as easy as it sounds. But it is a skill that we can all learn, improve and perfect.
In this workshop we dive deep into 'Thinking Together Without Interrupting'.
This session introduces two deceptively simple skills that will not only support you to communicate better, but also to make your collaborations more fruitful.
You will practise these two skills:
Thinking Tennis. One thought. Pass the ball. Wait. Respond. Repeat. That rhythm - and the discipline it takes to hold it - is what makes real dialogue possible, even when views differ.
How to get from a misunderstanding back into connection using the CUP-method.
After this workshop you will:
Have a better understanding of how you can share your thoughts, ideas and words in way that invites curiosity;
How you can invite someone else in the Thinking Together framework;
What you can do when there is a miscommunication leading to disconnection;
Go out in the world with a toolkit and a practical task you can use to keep enhancing the skills learned.
This is not a session that teaches you to always reach an agreement. It is about how you can stay connected while you think out loud together. The goal is not consensus. It is learning how to think together and collaborate with ease!
About the Candid Conversation series
Getting your message across is not a given. Communication is a skill. And like any skill, it requires practice. The Candid Conversation series is a set of short, practical workshops designed to help you have the kind of conversations that actually matter. Each session focuses on one skill, gives you a simple framework, and lets you practise it in a safe environment. Honest, hands-on practice you can take straight into your work and life.
Each session is designed to stand alone. You do not need to have joined earlier sessions to get full value from this one. Pick and choose what works for you.
