Exploring Neurodivergent Transitions: A Gentle Walk in Sintra Forest
A gentle 3-hour forest walk in Sintra for neurodivergent adults - including those without a formal diagnosis, and those who are still wondering. Hosted by Neurotribe with Dr Fran Lassman, this is a warm, reflective space to explore transitions in neurodivergent life at a calm and accessible pace.
Description
Transitions can be especially intense for neurodivergent people, whether they are big life changes like becoming a parent, discovering your neurodivergence, moving countries, burnout, depression, menopause, older age, shifts in work and identity, grief and loss - or the smaller everyday transitions of starting, stopping, switching tasks, leaving the house, moving between rest and activity, sleep and wakefulness, or returning to yourself after overwhelm.
This gentle walk and pause in the Sintra forest offers space to slow down and reflect on those experiences in a way that feels grounded, spacious, and human. Together, the group will explore why transitions can feel sticky, heavy, or unexpectedly overwhelming, and draw upon our human and more-than-human communities to access ease, connectedness and knowledges during transitional spaces.
How this space is different
This is not a lecture, performance, or high-pressure group process. It is a slower, more spacious group that invites walking, nature, and gentle reflection to access insight, connection, and relief around experiences that are often misunderstood or rushed.
The focus is not on “fixing” neurodivergence, but on understanding lived experience more kindly and clearly. The forest setting supports a quieter kind of participation, where people can listen, speak, reflect, or simply walk alongside others without pressure.
Safety, accessibility and format
The walk is designed to be calm, low-pressure, and accessible. The pace will be gentle, the meeting point is accessible by car, and there is room for people to participate in ways that feel manageable for them.
This is still a walking group, so participants do need to be able to walk at a gentle pace. You are welcome to engage quietly, take pauses, and bring what helps you feel comfortable: water, a snack, sunscreen, a hat, and comfy shoes. A camera and notebook may also be helpful.
Who it’s for
This workshop is for neurodivergent adults, including autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD people. You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend - if you are questioning, self-identifying, or simply recognising yourself in these experiences, you are welcome.
It may be especially meaningful for people navigating burnout, late diagnosis, parenting, migration, menopause, work changes, identity shifts, or the everyday strain of moving between tasks, roles, and states.
