Water is Life - with Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr.

WATER IS LIFE

Visit by Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. and Brother Gary Christmas

The North Sea Bioregion ~ Amsterdam

Sunday, 1 November: A Sacred Water Ceremony.

Water has shaped the life and history of the Netherlands, and it is the source of all life. Together we will offer our prayers and gratitude for the water, for the land, and for one another and we will also spend time together in Huis Leyduin.

“Make everyone a relative. Learn how to be a good relative”

Chief Phil Lane jr.:

"As I have shared with you, my relationship with the people of the Netherlands began long before that, when I was eight. After the great flood of 1953, my father helped me send my very best toys to a Dutch boy my age. He taught me that we always give our very best. I come to you now in that same spirit. I warmly invite each of you to come and visit with us."

The Wisdom of the 16 Guiding Principles
In 1982, 40 Elders and Indigenous leaders gathered in southern Alberta, establishing the Four Worlds teachings: the 4 Natural Laws, 16 Guiding Principles and Foundations, rooted in compassion, responsibility and care for the Seventh Generation.

Today, Four Worlds and its partners apply these teachings through the Digital Fourth Way and in person meetings, connecting Indigenous youth, ethnic minority communities and all organisations and businesses that strengthen cultural identity, amplify voices, support community-led action and a holistic society overall.

Why join?

Chief Phil Lane jr.: "With the recent developments and research into the colonial history the Netherlands has a unique opportunity to become a catalyst for reconciliation, renewal and innovative ways to work together. When King Willem-Alexander called the research a spur to action, he opened a doorway - now it is up to all of us to walk through it.

Please come, and please bring your families and those dear to you. Your presence would mean a great deal to me. More than anything, I look forward to seeing your faces, embracing you, and sitting together to listen, to dream, and to discover What we can do together for the generations yet to come."
