Towards Safety and Justice: Legal and Service Pathways for Immigrant and Migrant Women Experiencing Gender-Based Violence
Join IMWAH for a free cross-sector learning forum focused on strengthening how we support immigrant and migrant women experiencing gender-based violence.
Held on November 25 from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, this event marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and brings together legal knowledge, research, and service-provider experiences to strengthen legal navigation, referral pathways, and holistic responses.
The day will feature a legal information workshop led by Legal Info Nova Scotia, a keynote speaker, panel discussion and Q&A, as well as opportunities for connection and a social and creative activity.
Together, we will explore:
How immigration status can shape gender-based violence risks
Legal and service pathways available to women with different immigration statuses
Practical referral pathways across legal, GBV, immigrant-serving, and community-service sectors
Systemic barriers and ways to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic support
This event is open to service providers, advocates, researchers, students, and professionals across sectors who want to strengthen their knowledge, connections, and ability to support immigrant and migrant women.
Registration is free. Lunch will be provided.
