Funding the Frontline: An Education in Emergencies Reception

​Education is one of the world's most important investments. For children affected by conflict, displacement and climate crises, it is also one of the most powerful investments in protection, resilience and long-term recovery.

​Yet today, 258 million school-aged children are affected by crisis, while global support for education is under increasing pressure. Meeting this challenge will require more than additional resources. It will require stronger partnerships between governments, philanthropy, the private sector and civil society to unlock new ideas, new investments and new ways of working together.

​Street Child and Education Cannot Wait (ECW) are pleased to convene an evening reception on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), co-hosted by ECW Director Maysa Jalbout and CEO and Co-founder of Street Child, Tom Dannatt. Bringing together leaders from philanthropy, family foundations, the private sector, governments and the education in emergencies community, the reception will provide a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, build relationships and explore how catalytic partnerships can expand learning opportunities for children affected by crisis.

​The programme will feature an interactive conversation with leaders from across philanthropy, business, government and international organizations, alongside civil society organisations delivering ECW-funded programming on the frontlines of today's crises, whose work shows what an investment in education in crisis looks like in practice.
