At this Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) public hearing meeting held by Antonio Reynoso’s office, the Brooklyn Borough President, there will be a discussion on the Gotham proposed construction project “Monitor Point”.
The proposed site is located on an unfinished section of Bushwick Inlet Park, which was promised to the Greenpoint and Williamsburg community over 20 years ago and is still sadly unfinished. The proposed buildings will predominantly be comprised of luxury apartments and feature two towers (one 60 and the other 40 stories tall). This would completely obscure the tranquility of any park, greatly burden the neighborhoods infrastructure, and wreak havoc on countless species of migratory birds that rely on the Bushwick Inlet. Bushwick Inlet is one of the last undeveloped pieces of coastline in NYC and one of the last few marsh lands in Brooklyn. The proposed site is also in the 2050 and 2100 flood zones.
On top of all the environmental impacts this will cause, this land is public land! So if you believe public land should be used for public good and not for real estate developers to profit we need your voice to be heard!!!!
This is an environmental and climate justice issue and if you feel compelled to speak at the hearing arrive at 5:45 pm EST to be able to sign up to make a public comment.
