​From the Black Panther Party’s free clinics to today’s scientists, physicians, researchers, and community health innovators — the work has always been happening here.

​This Oakland Tech Week, Decolonise All + Melanin Science are bringing Oakland’s history and future together for a conversation about sickle cell, access, medicine, innovation, and the future of care.

​🖤 𝗦𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟴

​Join us at the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation’s Black Panther Museum, where we begin with 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮, a young author living with sickle cell, reading from her book, Living with Sickle Cell. She’ll be joined by her mother to share their experience navigating life, care, and sickle cell as a family in Oakland.

​From lived experience, we move into an intergenerational conversation with 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿. 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗨𝗖𝗦𝗙’𝘀 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹, and 𝗢𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗘𝗢 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗻𝗶𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗮.
