Toronto x Chicago: An Evening of Art & Connection
Join us at Monique Meloche Gallery in West Town for an evening celebrating art, culture, and the longstanding connection between Toronto and Chicago.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience Kenyan-born Canadian artist Brendan Fernandes’ exhibition, The Noise Will Sound, while discovering one of Chicago’s leading contemporary art galleries. The gathering also marks the anniversary of the Toronto–Chicago Sister City relationship, bringing together members of Chicago’s cultural, civic, and Canadian communities to celebrate the ties that connect our two cities.
Monique Meloche is a Canadian dealer and curator who opened her eponymous gallery in Chicago in 2000. Both Meloche and Fernandes grew up in Toronto and now call Chicago home. Meloche has lived in the city since the early 1990s, while Fernandes has been based in Chicago for the past decade and is a tenured professor at Northwestern University.
The evening will also welcome Claire Kennedy, the newly appointed Consul General of Canada in Chicago. A Toronto native, Consul General Kennedy brings more than 25 years of experience in law and corporate governance, including service on the Board of the Bank of Canada, where she served as Lead Director from 2018 to 2025. As Consul General, she represents Canada across Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and northern Indiana and works to strengthen the economic, cultural, and community ties between Canada and the United States.
Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and Toronto–Chicago connection.
Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) is one of the largest sister city programs in the country, with 28 active sister cities and more than 700 volunteers.
This event is proudly sponsored by Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm with a significant presence on both sides of the border, including more than 600 lawyers across six offices in Canada and a significant presence across the United States.
