Sunset Supper with Chef Julien Castillo
About Chef Julien Castillo
Julien Castillo grew up in the Bronx, where his grandmother's kitchen and backyard garden were his first teachers. He got his start washing dishes at 16, and worked his way through some of New York's most respected kitchens, including The Clocktower (Michelin Star) and Llama Inn (James Beard Finalist). Today he works as a freelance private chef, cooking food rooted in memory, seasonality, and the people around the table.

Join us for Sunset Supper Series at Brooklyn Grange Sunset Park Farm — an intimate rooftop dining experience celebrating the connection between seasonality, hospitality, and urban agriculture.
Hosted on our 3.2-acre rooftop farm in Sunset Park, the series brings together Michelin-trained chefs, hyper-seasonal produce, and thoughtfully paired beverages for a communal dining experience unlike any other in New York City.
Each dinner is centered around the season unfolding on the farm. Guests will gather around a shared table surrounded by the very fields where many of the evening’s ingredients were grown, harvested just hours before service. Menus change throughout the season and highlight unique crops selected specifically for flavor, freshness, and creative expression.
Throughout the evening, chefs will guide guests course-by-course through the inspiration behind each dish, sharing stories about seasonality, preservation, and their relationship to the ingredients. Members of the Brooklyn Grange farming team will also speak to the growing process itself — creating a rare opportunity to hear directly from both the farmer and the chef while dining on the farm where the food was grown.
Each experience includes a multi-course dinner with Farm-to-Glass beverage pairings inspired by the crops, herbs, and flavors of the season. From peak summer abundance to preserved winter harvests, the series is designed to evolve throughout the year, offering guests a new expression of the farm with every visit.
Whether you join us for a single dinner or return throughout the season, Sunset Supper Series offers a chance to slow down, gather around the table, and experience a different side of New York City — one rooted in flavor, conversation, and the rhythms of the farm.
