House of Chai: a Sunday sanctuary
The House of Chai is a space of sanctuary from the relentless pace of modern life. You’re invited to slow down and be present with yourself and the community in this pop up tearoom. Reimagining what a tearoom can be. At its heart, it's a sanctuary where rest, joy and connection are cultivated through tea, creativity, ancestral practices and community. You’re invited to imagine rest as a collective practice. We’ll be honouring the darker days as British Summer Time officially ends on Sunday 25 October; a perfect time for slowing down and embracing the colder months.
Over three hours you can expect:
An opening where we take time together with intentional and slow sipping of specialist herbal teas. This will be time to connect with one another by setting an opening intention for the space.
We will sink into the space with a soundbath to ease your mind and body.
For the rest of the time you’re welcome to just be. You can choose to bring a book you’ve been meaning to read or a craft you’ve started. There will also be the option to join in a cultural game or create some new artwork if you wish to.
Light snacks and tea will be provided throughout.
About Us
The “House Of” is an emerging social enterprise dedicated to creating physical spaces where joy, peace, and connection are the foundation of how we are together in community. Working as a collaborative of changemakers, artists and creatives, we will offer these spaces of care. Donations from the House of Chai help to support our broader community care work, which enables us to continue to provide wellbeing spaces that are accessible to people who are caring for people, places and planet in their everyday work.
The space will be held by Benedicta and Sana.
Benedicta is a Creative Practice Director and founder of Golden Sankofa, a social enterprise dedicated to transforming places and spaces that nurture community wellbeing and belonging. She is a creative care facilitator who weaves together nature, rest and creativity into soul-nourishing experiences; from community dinners and retreats to participatory workshops. Her creative practice is rooted in cultural rituals working with ancestral wisdom to embalm her work with people and communities. She invites communities to sit with tea rituals as a form of art and connection.
Sana specialises in sound healing, mindfulness, meditation and Qi-gong exercises, supporting people to regulate their nervous system and relax with soothing tones and sounds. She also offers education in how to use sound meditation for wellness for themselves and for others, using professional standards, care and awareness incorporating Voice, Tuning Fork therapy, Drumming for Wellness, Tibetan Singing Bowls and Crystal Singing Bowls.
The price point seeks to cover the cost of the space, materials and our time. However, we do not want cost to be a barrier to attending our events. If you would like to discuss a 'changemaker' ticket at a lower cost, please get in touch with us at homeishouseof@gmail.com.
