StrangeNew.World - May Day: Protests & Picnic in the Park
This Friday, May 1 ("May Day") will be a call to action; a day for the essential workers, community advocates, working people, and immigrants, representing the many communities that power our neighborhoods and the state of California, to be heard.
Two ways to show solidarity this upcoming Friday
1. CA MAY DAY 2026 - The official march will begin at MacArthur Park at 10am and (most likely) proceed to the Downtown area towards the Federal Detention Center (or City Hall).
2. StrangeNew.World - May Day Picnic in the Park: Then we will all be meeting back in Santa Monica at Clover Park at 1pm’ish for a SN.W Labs picnic, there will also be the low-key “Crafting in the Park” event happening during that time. We can set up camp (blankets/shade/ducks) just west of the knitting club/organizers (maybe checkin on the WhatsApp group for up-to-date-details), and be warned: the knitter’s may look peaceful, but they carry sharp sticks and a lot of attitude, making direct eye contact is not advised. 😏 Please RSVP here for the Picnic: https://luma.com/sowv7d46
How to Rally / Protest
If you plan on attending the morning march, please practice common sense and prepare to exercise your rights peacefully. Expect several thousand fellow Angelenos in attendance.

Train Metro - easy access tofrom MacArthur Park you can get routes and schedules Google Maps
Santa Monica Big Blue Bus - Lines 44 and 8 have stops in front of Clover Park.

If you plan on attending the Clover Park Picnic, please bring “picnic items” to make your experience enjoyable: sunscreen, some food/drinks/snacks, and comfortable shoes. And maybe if you're planning on bringing a food item let people know on the WhatsApp group so we don't have a bunch of the same stuff… and we will bring a few blankets for everyone to sit on.
