Summer Forest / Foraging Walk (the sequel)
Summer sweat forest lush fruit ripening sun rising
Come walk about the prospect park forest and meet your deeply green (and yellow and red and etc) neighbors, tune into the tilt of the earth, feel the height of summer! We'll walk and talk, I'll tell you what I know about these plant friends, we'll hear what they have to say, we'll learn to identify and name them, and we'll look for edible and medicinal plants to nibble upon.
Learning the land and getting acquainted with the nonhuman landscape is an act of remembering and a small but meaningful resistance to the dominant culture of disconnection, disembodiment, and exploitation. In the inescapable soup of state sponsored terrorism, imperialism, war, g3nocide, and all else, it's also a small but meaningful way to ground yourself in here and now for a time, in the lushness of the life we share this land with.
We'll meander, going where the plants draw us.
Time says 3:30-5:30pm but it'll be loosey goosey on the tail end. I'll probably end up walking for a while after, but you can leave whenever of course! Please do arrive on time though! It's hard but possible to meet up after we've started walking. See location for exact meetup spot (by the lake).
NOTE: in case of serious rain, I'll move the walk to another time, TBD. If you can't make that time, I'll refund your ticket.
