Make Summer Profitable
Summer is nearly here and most operators will walk into it with the same prices they set two years ago.
I have to be honest about this one. Pricing is the single biggest issue I see in tourism, and it is almost always too low. What usually happens is an operator looks at the business down the road charging $70 for a kayak tour and prices off that. No business expenses in the number. No OTA commission in the number. Then they work themselves into the ground through a busy season and wonder why there is nothing left in the bank at the end of it.
In my first ten months at Aquaduck Gold Coast, revenue was up 36.1% and net profit per passenger was up 200%. Same product, same city, same passengers. What changed was how we priced it and how we sold it.
So before the season hits, let's get your ducks in a row.
What we'll cover on the day
How to build a price that actually covers your business, not just your outlay on the day
The real cost of your booking channels, including the commission most operators underestimate by half
How to work out which of your products make you money and which ones quietly cost you
What to fix now, and what to leave alone until February
Then Shahreen will take you through [Shahreen's topic, roughly 25 minutes]. [Sarah — need her topic line and a one paragraph bio from Shahreen]
We'll leave 10 minutes at the end for questions. Ask us anything, we would rather answer the awkward ones.
Who this is for
Tourism, tour and attraction operators who are working hard, leaning on the OTAs, and not seeing the money at the end of it. If you are busy but not profitable, this one is for you.
