Abstract:
METzero Technologies is a Newcastle University spinout developing a modular, low-energy and sustainable approach to wastewater treatment using Microbial Electrolysis Cells. Our technology harnesses microorganisms to remove pollutants from wastewater using significantly less energy, while recovering valuable resources such as ammonia and hydrogen. We are translating over 15 years of academic research into modular systems for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment, with the technology now progressing towards full-scale demonstration. Our ambition is to turn wastewater from a costly waste stream into a valuable resource.
