FutureScript - Pilot | AI 101 for Cinemas
FutureScript is ICTA’s new education series where cinema writes its next chapter, with technology, creativity, and strategy in the same frame.
In this first interactive FutureScript online session, we’re focusing on AI not as a buzzword, but as a practical tool to make cinemas more agile, efficient, and audience-ready.
Many ICTA members are curious about AI, but also cautious:
Will it replace people? Is it a fad? Where do we even start?
Across 90 minutes, co-hosts Keerthana Mahadevan (Segmentide / The AI Collective) and Norma Garcia (NRJ Media Group / Television Academy) will guide participants through a structured, story-driven journey, from fear and uncertainty to clarity, responsibility, and hands-on use.
You’ll explore:
AI 101 for Cinemas
A clear, non-technical baseline: what AI and LLMs actually are, in language operators and executives can understand. From Fear to Fluency
Why so many in our industry feel threatened by AI—and how to reframe it as a tool that amplifies human expertise instead of replacing it.Responsible AI in an Entertainment Context
Simple pillars (transparency, diversity of input, human oversight) to help your teams experiment confidently.Practical Use Cases for Cinema Teams
How AI can support operations, marketing, programming, and decision-making—today, with tools you can open in a browser.
Then, we’ll move into a live breakout lab:
Attendees will join small groups, open an AI tool of their choice, and work through guided prompts and a shared worksheet to solve their own real problems.
We’ll reconvene, share takeaways, and close with a two-way Q&A!
You’ll leave with:
A grounded understanding of what AI is (and isn’t)
A mindset shift from anxiety to experimentation
Practical prompts and workflows you can try immediately with your teams
A shared reference doc capturing ICTA member use cases and ideas
