A Bill of Rights for Capital: Speeding Climate Action By Cutting Red Tape
In honor of LA Climate Week, Eric Crane, a budding entrepreneur in the residential solar energy storage space with twelve years of experience in the industry, will be giving a presentation on ways to speed climate action and spur economic growth by creating a Bill of Rights for Capital. This may sound like giving away the keys to the kingdom, but it's more like painting lines on the road, adding guardrails, and raising the speed limit.
"Before any consideration of party, I am an American first. I want to share what is a simple but overlooked absence in our system that, if fixed, will make all the difference for climate action. What we need is a Bill of Rights for Capital.
All societies have three common elements: the People, the State, and Capital. In a democracy, every citizen has a stake in all three: as a voter, as a potential office holder or employee of the government, and as someone that has control over money. The Constitution spells out the relationship between the People and the State only, it does not address Capital. This absence has led to innumerable frustrations and conflicts on the part of regular people and consumers, the government, and business when anyone tries to build, buy, sell, or do, just about anything.
Realizing Capital, a.k.a. business into the Constitution will lead to economic growth, faster project approval times, and streamlined but responsible regulation."
