​​Dive deep into the world of Ruby and Rails at this month's Ruby on Rails Meetup. This month, we have Dr Dylan Saunders, Director at PsiQuantum, joining us for an intro to quantum computing and the work they do at PsiQuantum.

​Followed by Lightning Talks from anyone interested - the theme is "Dev Environment Tips, Tricks (and traps?)".

​PsiQuantum - Quantum Computing Down Under

​I will provide an introduction to quantum computing, explain why humans should build one, and discuss how PsiQuantum will do. I will also describe our plan to build the world's first useful quantum computer in Brisbane after receiving $1 billion from both state and federal governments. Quantum computing has a rich history in Brisbane and Australia; this project is a homecoming story.

Dylan has been with PsiQuantum for six years, starting in component research before becoming the first quantum systems architect and leading the design and delivery of our first systems. His background is in experimental quantum physics. He has held research and teaching positions at the University of Oxford, where he lectured on Quantum Optics and Photonics—both foundational to our machine. He completed his postgraduate studies at Griffith University in 2012.
