[Fungal Futures] Mycelium Fabrication Workshop Pt. I
Fungal Futures is a two-part, hands-on workshop inviting you to get dirty with fungi and imagine new possibilities for urban ecologies. Together, we’ll explore mycelium—the living, underground networks of fungi—as a regenerative material for healing cities and cultivating collective care.
In the first session, participants will be introduced to the powerful world of mycelium and collaborate to fabricate biodegradable planters using organic waste and living fungi. Expect experimentation, conversation, and a tactile encounter with growth in real time.
The second session (April 4, 2026) brings these forms to life. Participants will plant native species, grounding material play in ecological stewardship and local restoration efforts at Bushwick Inlet Park.
No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to learn together. All backgrounds are welcome, and we strongly encourage joining both sessions on February 7 and April 4 to experience the full lifecycle of the work.
This event is facilitated by Luca Marcelli and Valeria Ramirez, organized in collaboration with Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park and BIOPOD Co.
