Digital advertising metrics for good
What if digital advertising was measured not only by what people click on, view, or engage with, but also by the value it creates in their lives? The team behind Digital Advertising Metrics for Good (DigiAdGood) were driven by this simple but powerful question.
Individual and societal harms associated with social media advertising business models are widely acknowledged. There is also growing dissatisfaction within the advertising industry regarding existing effectiveness metrics, but limited work is being done to drive change.
The DigiAdGood study sought to better understand the impact of social media advertising on wellbeing outcomes. The aim is to create new digital advertising effectiveness metrics that prioritise human values and goals rather than rely on existing metrics that focus on engagement and incentivise attention grabbing content that perpetuates misalignment between human and business goals and has been shown to cause harm.
Join Rebecca Jenkins, Stuart Armon and Janice Denegri Knott to gain insight into how wellbeing ‘in-the-moment’ can help understand and measure the impact of social media advertising experiences on wellbeing outcomes, and why human-centred metrics are needed in industry, now.
