Battery Cost & Performance Modeling Workshop & Certification with Dr. Julia Lamb - The Battery Saloon
Battery Cost & Performance Modeling Workshop
Hands-On Techno-Economic Analysis & Certification with The Battery Saloon and Dr. Julia Lamb, Founder, CellVision (open-source battery TEA tool)
Eight weeks, beginning 28 September 2026
After a run of high-profile battery business failures, investors and government reviewers increasingly expect a defensible techno-economic model before they write a cheque. At a minimum, a TEA forces you to question your own assumptions. At its best, a TEA becomes the core pillar of a business model, inseparable from the cost-down roadmap and expected market volumes.
This eight-week workshop gives students, industrialists, investors, entrepreneurs, and consultants the fundamental skills needed to build and critically evaluate battery TEAs, from materials through to levelized cost of storage.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO
Build a material TEA from first principles, and defend every assumption in it.
Translate material-level capacity into cell-level capacity, then into a bill of materials.
Model electrode and cell manufacturing cost (yields, fill factors, formation) and check it against published teardowns.
Scale from cell to module, pack, and storage block, and land on LCOS.
Read someone else’s model and find the assumptions driving the results.
