Making New Stuff Will Save Us
Join us for a insightful chat with Leah Ruehlicke, VP of Creators & Community at Skillshare, as we dig into a quiet threat every community is facing right now: apathy.
Everything is starting to feel the same. Product pages all follow the same template. LinkedIn is full of the same short-sentence thought leadership. We all somehow own the same viral sweater. And sameness has a cost. When everything blends together, nobody feels seen, and people who don’t feel seen don’t take action.
Leah’s take is refreshingly simple: the way out is to keep paying attention, because people pay attention when they feel paid attention to. Our job as community builders is to make people feel seen, so they stay curious, keep making, and pull others into the same loop.
So how do you scale a feeling? Data can get you about 80% of the way. It shows you where attention is going, and often why. The last 20% is the human signal that makes people actually care, and that’s the part we can’t ignore.
What you’ll take away:
🎯 A framework for finding what truly moves your community to act
🤝 A way to make your team feel seen by balancing their work style with the realities of the business
💡 Where to find real inspiration, beyond the “I should read that” reading list
