Landscape Restoration Lead at Eden Reforestation Projects

Alex de Sosa Kinzer is a landscape planner trained in landscape architecture (MLA) and conservation ecology (MS). She specializes in developing large-scale forest landscape restoration projects that navigate complex interactions between people and their environment, prioritizing solutions that embrace and negotiate the complex realities of the landscape. Alex currently works with Eden Reforestation Projects as the Landscape Restoration Lead, working with global teams in nine countries to develop landscape restoration projects. Previously, Alex co-lead the establishment of Eden’s mangrove and terrestrial reforestation programs in Mozambique, Kenya, and Ethiopia, collaborating with a wide variety of leaders to develop projects with tangible impact. Alex has contributed to restoration projects exceeding 65,000 hectares in India, Kenya, Mozambique, Brazil, Honduras, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Nepal. She enjoys the iterative process, bouncing across scales in design, and bringing concepts into practical reality with others. In a world where “not all that glitters is gold”, she values genuine collaboration, experimental attitudes to restoration, and spaces to share “in-between ideas”, where people have the freedom to explore and process solutions to the challenges they face.
