City Hike - Chocolate Dreams
Explore San Francisco with Fellow Canucks — and Chocolate!
Come explore San Francisco with us on foot! It’s the perfect chance to socialize with fellow Canucks, discover hidden corners of the city, and, of course, indulge in some amazing chocolate. Plus, you’ll easily hit those 10,000 steps.
♀️In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’ve also added a few stops at women-owned shops along the way!
Meeting Point: Meet in Patricia's Green Park in Hayes Valley (50 Fell St). Look for Brandon — the tall guy wearing a weight vest and probably holding an oversized coffee.
Hike Stats:
Elevation: 1,161 ft
Distance: 5.5 miles
Estimated total time: 4 hrs (including stops)
Route Overview & Highlights:
Start in Hayes Valley
Stroll through three lesser-known parks
A quick pitstop for some coffee in Noe Valley
Visit SF's best chocolate shop (and meet its eccentric owner)
Take a shortcut down the concrete slides (pack some cardboard in your pack - if you know, you know)
End in The Castro
OPTIONAL: Late lunch at The Grind for a bite and to celebrate a day well spent!
🎒Feeling ambitious? Make it a ruck!
What is Rucking? Rucking is simply walking or hiking while carrying a weighted rucksack or backpack. A good rule of thumb is to begin with a weight that is 10%-15% of your body weight.
What do I use as weight?
Weighted vest? Perfect.
No vest? Load up a backpack with water bottles ( great for beginners as you can drink or dump weight as needed).
Fun fact: 1 liter of water weighs about 2.2 pounds.
Another option: Books! We’ll pass several Little Free Libraries where you can drop or swap books along the way.
A Few Friendly Reminders:
We’ll be moving at a brisk pace, so choose your weight wisely.
We won’t leave anyone behind — but we won’t be thrilled if we have to carry your load (literally).
Save some space in your pack for chocolate, treats, and any Little Free Library finds you might want to bring home!
