We hear it all the time: “I’m addicted to my phone.” But is it really an addiction? Víctor explores what science actually says, why the evidence for “behavioural addictions” is weaker than we think, and what happens when we label everyday habits as addiction. Together we’ll also discuss teenagers and social media, and whether the recent bans are really the answer.
An unexpected take for a phone-free event, and that’s exactly why we love it. 😉

About Víctor
Víctor Ciudad holds a PhD in Psychology and researches behavioural addictions and problematic social media use, especially among teenagers. His work focuses on what drives these behaviours and how to tell frequent use apart from truly problematic use. He is also the founder of Beetrics, a company focused on talent management and retention.

Lo oímos constantemente: “Soy adicto/a al móvil”. Pero, ¿es realmente una adicción? Víctor nos explica qué dice de verdad la ciencia, por qué la evidencia sobre las “adicciones comportamentales” es más débil de lo que pensamos y qué pasa cuando llamamos adicción a hábitos cotidianos. Juntos debatiremos también sobre los adolescentes y las redes sociales, y si las prohibiciones recientes son realmente la solución.
Una mirada inesperada para un evento sin móviles, y precisamente por eso nos encanta. 😉

Sobre Víctor
Víctor Ciudad es doctor en Psicología e investigador especializado en las adicciones comportamentales y el uso problemático de las redes sociales, especialmente entre adolescentes. Su trabajo se centra en comprender qué hay detrás de estos comportamientos y cómo distinguir un uso frecuente de uno realmente problemático. También es fundador de Beetrics, una empresa dedicada a la gestión y retención del talento.
