AI Builders Weekend: Build an AI Agent From Scratch Using Python
About the Event
Most people interact with AI through prompts and chat interfaces. The real power of AI, however, lies in building systems that can reason, make decisions, use tools, and carry out tasks with minimal human intervention.
Masters’ Union is hosting AI Builders Weekend: Build an AI Agent From Scratch Using Python, a hands-on workshop designed to help individuals understand how AI agents work and how to build one from scratch using Python.
Led by Tarun Malhotra, Lead Software Engineer at Microsoft, this session will focus on learning by building. Participants will code along throughout the workshop, and explore the core building blocks behind modern AI agents.
By the end of the session, participants will have built a working AI agent in Python and gained hands-on experience with the concepts that power modern agentic AI systems.
In this workshop we’ll cover:
Designing the architecture of an AI agent from the ground up
Connecting LLMs, tools, and decision-making workflows into a single system
Enabling agents to plan tasks, take actions, and respond dynamically to outcomes
Structuring agent memory, workflows, and control logic
Coding a working AI agent live and understanding how modern agentic systems are built in practice
Who is this workshop for?
This session is designed for software engineers, developers, and AI enthusiasts who want to build real-world AI systems rather than simply interact with them. It is particularly relevant for professionals looking to gain hands-on experience with AI agents, automation workflows, and the technologies powering the next generation of AI applications.
About the Host
