Live Symposium: War, Genocide and Futures Beyond US Hegemony (Asia / Africa / Europe)
The eight-decade era of American hegemony and the Bretton Woods system is currently fracturing, triggered by internal crises, shifting global conflicts, and a profound loss of international legitimacy.
This JFS Perspectives symposium examines whether these disruptions signal the terminal decline of a superpower and / or the birth of a new global order. By utilizing diverse frameworks, ranging from decolonial and afrofuturist lenses to macro-historical and causal layered analysis, the contributors move beyond mere diagnosis to envision alternative futures.
The interdisciplinary collection seeks to transform a period of violent transition into a space for strategic imagination, offering a roadmap toward a more equitable, peaceful, and ecologically resilient world that transcends the extractivism of the current age.
Join with symposium authors and audience to discuss the planetary shifts we are facing, to explore and imagine new pathways for our world, communities and selves.
