About Event

We got into this work for the love of the craft, the communities we feel passionate about. But you quickly realize the freedom to do it your way, in a way that's actually sustainable, requires you to be a business owner. A business owner who never had any interest in going to business school.

You already know your clinical work. Whatever your modality, whatever your population — you're applying it with clients all day, you just finished a CEU on it. Does it also need to compete with your reading list?

What you can't always find is the thing that actually moves your business forward — and gets you out of questioning whether private practice can actually work for you. The book about leadership, or money, or the person whose path you keep coming back to because something in it applies to you right now.

We didn't get into this work for the money. But we need the money to do well by our clients and ourselves. And you don't have to figure out how alone.

A book club with more freedom.

What we're doing:

  • You choose your own non-fiction book — something about business, leadership, or a person whose path you're drawn to professionally, because you're the business owner, and you know where the cracks are.

  • You get a month to read it. Then we gather.

  • You'll share what stood out — the aha moment, the framework you’re adopting, the sentence you underlined twice.

  • And then we turn to the room: crowd-source the real bottleneck in your business development right now. Because everyone's read something different, you're not getting one person's take — you're getting the leadership book, the money book, and the story of the person who built the thing you're trying to build, all applied to your actual problem, at once.

  • You leave with insight from your book, the room's collective intelligence, and at least one real next step.

What we're not doing:

  • Voting on one book that half the room won't finish

  • Giving you a reason to be inundated with more clinical content on top of client work, CEUs, and witnessing the day-to-day of everyone's capitalism survival strategy

  • Making this a recurring commitment — you've got enough on your plate

Who this is for:

  • Therapists in private practice with a backlog of book recommendations — from a coach, a colleague, a podcast — they've been meaning to get to

  • Practice owners who know their clinical knowledge is solid and are ready to figure out whether private practice can actually work for them

Your book, your pace, a room full of answers you don't have to find alone.

Your Host

Hosted by Fanny Tristan, trauma therapist and founder of Restority Space, who has been in private practice for the past 7 years and credits much of her growth, opportunities, and support to the relationships and community she’s built along the way.

  • Connection with other NYC psychotherapists in private practice

  • Space to exchange ideas, resources, and experiences

  • Light bites + beverages
