About Event

Before we redesign our mosques, perhaps we should learn how to listen to them.

How does sound shape the way we arrive, pray and belong?

Join Mimbar360 for an afternoon exploring the sonic landscape of mosque life. Through guided listening, sound mapping and collective reflection, we’ll explore how the adhan, Qur’anic recitation, silence and everyday sounds influence our emotional experience of sacred space.

Together we’ll ask:

  • How does sound shape our relationship with the mosque?

  • What makes a space feel calm, welcoming or overwhelming?

  • How might listening become a design practice?

During the workshop

  • Explore sound in Islamic tradition and everyday mosque life.

  • Practise deep listening as a way of understanding place.

  • Create a collective sound map of the mosque and its surroundings.

  • Imagine how healthier sonic environments can support wellbeing and belonging.
