About Event

On Friday, April 24th, set sail with us to discuss the most critical topics at the intersection of textiles and oceans on our 4th annual Textile X Ocean Connector Sail Program!

Timed to align with SF Climate Week this year, this 4-hour experiential learning sail on San Francisco Bay is designed as an off-conference convening for senior professionals across science and industry at the intersection of sustainable textiles and ocean health. The gathering brings together researchers, practitioners, systems designers, and decision-makers for structured dialogue in a distinctive maritime setting.

This is not a panel or networking event. It is a curated intellectual experience with a defined learning arc, facilitated discussion, and a deliberately high-caliber cohort. Join us if this sounds like you!

DISCUSSION TOPICS

Microfiber Pollution || Materials Innovation || Green Chemistry || Biodegradation || Ecotoxicity || Policy Updates || New Material Alternatives || Environmental Justice || Climate Impacts

TARGET ATTENDEES

Target participants include a cross-sector group of textile industry experts, textile company representatives, scientists, policy makers, representatives from universities and environmental groups, and other interested stakeholders.

This year's programming was built to include a limited number of 'fellow seats' that are reserved for emerging leaders and practitioners whose work advances science, industry and triple bottom line benefit and helps us enable more diversity on board. To learn more, please reach out to [email protected] to apply for a fellow seat.

VESSEL

This learning experience will take place on Call of the Sea's SV Matthew Turner, 132 feet long tall ship built in San Francisco Bay and designed after the historic ship Galilee.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS

Together Krystle Moody Wood and Carolynn Box have established themselves as some of the world's leading experts in microfiber pollution - an issue early recognized at the intersection of oceans and textiles. With Krystle's background in materials innovation and sustainable textile systems, and Carolynn's background in ocean conservation and plastic pollution, this program merges both of their worlds and expertise. Krystle and Carolynn co-founded the Textile X Ocean Connector Program in 2021 to build an ecosystem of experts and passionate people to expand beyond the focus on microfiber pollution and address critical issues at the intersection of sustainable textiles and ocean health.

ABOUT THE STEWARDSHIP SUPPORT CREW

This year's program was supported by an incredible 2026 Stewardship Support Crew who provided advance underwriting funds and are helping us sustain the integrity and momentum of this catalytic convening.

By registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of SF Climate Week and fellow crew members of the 2026 Textile x Ocean Connector Sail.
