Climate Parties are a series of immersive learning & ecosystem building events curated to enable interdisciplinary solutionists, either already working in or seriously considering a transition to the Climate space, to discover more of their kind across domains and cross-pollinate ideas for collaborative action.

About the event
What does waste-to-energy actually look like on the ground beyond process diagrams, project announcements, and sustainability claims?
We're opening the doors to Jindal Urban Waste Management (Ahmedabad) Ltd. for a behind-the-scenes experience at an operating waste-to-energy facility that processes approximately 1,000 metric tonnes of municipal solid waste per day and generates electricity for the power grid.
For those working across climate solutions, circular economy, industrial sustainability, and waste-derived products, this is an opportunity to understand how the system operates in practice, what happens to its outputs, and where the challenges and opportunities lie.
What to expect
Through a guided plant tour, we'll explore:
Waste processing: How municipal solid waste is handled at large scale;
Energy recovery: How waste is converted into electricity, with a generation capacity of 15 MW;
By-product utilization: What happens to bottom ash and fly ash, and their potential for use in other applications;
Industrial operations: The practical realities, challenges, and trade-offs involved in running a waste-to-energy facility.
Beyond the tour
The visit will conclude with interactive games and an open Q&A with experts at the facility. It's an opportunity to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and explore potential opportunities across the waste, energy, and resource recovery value chains.

Visitor guidelines
Wear closed-toe, flat, comfortable footwear. Slippers, sandals, and high heels are prohibited.
Photography and videography are strictly prohibited.
Stay with the group, follow the designated route, and comply with all plant safety instructions.
Do not touch machinery or enter restricted areas.
Maintain a safe distance from operational equipment and wear the PPE provided.
