Director Timo Vuorensola has travelled one of the strangest career paths in Finnish cinema—starting a VFX-obsessed garage band of filmmakers in a friend’s mom’s basement in Tampere and ending up directing Oscar-nominated actors on international sets.
In this keynote, Vuorensola breaks down what he learned while pushing Finnish cinema into the era of visual-effects–driven storytelling, navigating the unpredictable world of global film production, and staying sane while everything from technology to the industry’s business model keeps shifting underfoot.
With AI now rewriting the rules of filmmaking faster than anyone can keep up, Timo offers a look at where the future of film is actually headed—and how creative rebels can still shape it.

He has worked Meta, PlayStation, Coca-Cola, Samsung, Magic Leap, and 20th Century Fox.
