​Be Volunteer Strong | Session 1: The Volunteering Vision

​What is Be Volunteer Strong?

​Be Volunteer Strong is a monthly learning and experience-sharing series by Humans of Volunteering (HOV) designed to help non-profits build stronger volunteer infrastructure.

​Over 10 sessions, non-profit leaders and community builders will come together to discuss the realities of volunteer engagement, exchange experiences, learn from one another, and explore practical approaches to strengthening volunteer systems.

​Session 1: The Volunteering Vision*

​Most organizations engage volunteers. But how many have intentionally defined the role volunteerism plays in achieving their mission?

​The first session of the series focuses on building a strong foundation by exploring the "why" behind volunteer engagement.

​We will discuss:

• ​What volunteering means to you & the cause

• ​The role volunteers play in organizational growth and community development

• ​Common challenges nonprofits face while engaging volunteers

• ​What a strong volunteering vision looks like

​Interactive Elements:

• ​Experience sharing from participating organizations

• ​Reflection exercises

• ​Peer discussions

​Expectations

​Participants are encouraged to:

• ​Join with aatleast 1 more team member (Broader perspectives help)

• ​Think about the session in advance to actively & meaningfully participate in discussions

• ​Share experiences, challenges, and learnings from their organizations

• ​Respect the diversity of experiences within the group

​This session is designed to be conversational and participatory.

​Pre-Requisite

​Before attending, please spend 10–15 minutes reflecting on:

• ​Why does your organization engage volunteers?

• ​Where do you want to go ahead with X number of volunteers that you have?

• ​What challenges are you currently facing?
