Beyond London: Where Will the UK’s Next Investment Opportunities Come From?

Panel. Deals. Debate.

An investor-only gathering for active angel investors, HNWIs, family offices, sophisticated early-stage investors, selected VCs, fund managers and investment scouts.

Hosted in partnership with TLT, the Manchester edition of the Angels Den Investor Town Hall will examine how the geography of UK investment is changing and where investors should be looking for the next generation of high-growth businesses.

As more public and institutional capital is directed towards regional ecosystems, the discussion will explore whether exceptional companies outside London remain underfunded, how investors can access stronger regional dealflow, and what needs to happen for significantly more private capital to follow.

Investor Panel

A focused 45-minute discussion bringing together experienced voices from angel investing, venture capital, institutional capital, regional investment and the wider UK funding ecosystem.

Discussion themes

The panel will explore:

  • Where the strongest investable ecosystems are emerging outside London

  • Whether regional businesses remain structurally underfunded

  • How investors source high-quality opportunities beyond their immediate networks

  • Whether valuation and competition for deals differ outside London

  • The role of angels as the first institutional-style cheque into regional businesses

  • How public investment can successfully crowd in private capital

  • What happens to companies between angel funding and larger institutional rounds

  • Whether regional founders still need London capital to scale

  • How family offices, angel syndicates and regional funds can work together

  • Which sectors and regional clusters are likely to produce the next generation of significant UK companies

The central question:

Where will the UK’s next exceptional investment opportunities come from — and how does private capital reach them early enough?

DEALS

The Town Hall Investment Committee

Three carefully selected companies will present live investment opportunities to the room.

Rather than a traditional pitch showcase, each company will face direct questioning from experienced investors around valuation, market opportunity, traction, defensibility, use of funds and investment readiness.

Each company receives:

5 minutes — Company pitch

7 minutes — Investor questioning

3 minutes — Investor reaction

The objective is not simply to showcase companies, but to allow the room to collectively examine what makes a regional opportunity genuinely investable.

DEBATE

Following the three investment cases, the room moves into an open investor discussion.

Topics will include:

Would you invest?

What would need to change before you invested?

What is the biggest investment risk?

Who should fund this business — angels, family offices, regional funds or VC?

Is the valuation appropriate for the opportunity?

Would you lead, follow or wait for further validation?

The session is designed to surface different investment perspectives and create meaningful discussion between investors rather than simply delivering another pitch event.
