Opening Reception-KEVIN ABOSCH & RICHARD PLEUGER "NEW TRUTH"

​NEORT++は、ケヴィン・アボッシュとリヒャルト・プロイガーによる展覧会「NEW TRUTH / 新・真実」の開幕にあたり、オープニング・レセプションを開催します。

​写真は、これまで一度でも真実の記録であっただろうか——。本展の作品は、両作家がそれぞれ撮影したロサンゼルスとベルリンの写真を学習データの一部とする生成モデルから抜き出された、静止画です。二人は互いの手もとを見ることなく作業し、ひとことも交わさぬまま一致した画像だけが残されました。対応ではなく、収束による真実。Hi8のやわらかく低解像度な粒子をまとうそれらのイメージは、自らが「作られたもの」であることを、静かに告げます。

​合成された記憶で満ちてゆく文化のなかで、少しの遅さとともに、あなた自身が何を信じる用意があるのかを確かめにいらしてください。

​NEW TRUTH — Opening Reception

​NEORT++ warmly invites you to the opening reception of NEW TRUTH, an exhibition by Kevin Abosch and Richard Pleuger.

​Has a photograph ever truly been a record of the truth? The works on view are still images pulled from synthetic footage, generated by models trained in part on the artists' own photographs of Los Angeles and Berlin. Working without ever seeing each other's hands, Abosch and Pleuger kept only the images they independently arrived at — the ones they agreed upon without exchanging a single word. Not truth by correspondence, but by convergence. Wrapped in the soft, low-resolution grain of Hi8, these images quietly declare that they were made.

​Join us for an evening of looking a little more slowly, and deciding for yourself what you are prepared to believe.
