Walk Your Way: Animal Safari supported by Bupa and hosted by The DO is a 4km guided night walk exploring the lowest levels of this vast nature reserve. Along the way, participants may encounter frogs near the ponds and rivers, moths fluttering in the night, insects resting on the vegetation, snakes, and even bats flying through the forest canopy. Tai Po Kau is also one of the best places in Hong Kong to see fireflies, which breed from March to November. With the aid of UV lights, the group will also have the chance to spot Dwarf Wood Scorpions, whose exoskeletons glow bright cyan-green in the dark.

Beyond the wildlife encounters, this walk offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about biodiversity and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Participants will gain insights into how different species interact and the importance of protecting natural habitats for a healthier planet and healthier communities.

What to bring: Night torch or headlamp, bottle of drinking water, mosquito repellent

This walk is part of the Bupa Healthy Cities initiative – a global movement under Bupa’s commitment to creating a “Better World”. In Hong Kong, the initiative focuses on designing urban environments that prioritize health and well-being for all. By encouraging active movement, enhancing access to nature, and integrating healthcare services, Bupa Healthy Cities fosters healthier lifestyles. With strong community involvement and a focus on sustainability, it aims not only to improve individual health but also to contribute to a healthier planet.

Limited to 20 participants.
