Beyond The Resume
Beyond the Resume is a full-day, two-part event at The Green Room designed to help participants build confidence, skills, and real connections as they navigate the Canadian job market.
Across the day, you’ll move from simply having a resume to actually understanding how to navigate work and opportunities with purpose, awareness, and support. You can register for one workshop or attend both.
Workshop 1: Forward Focus (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
This interactive workshop focuses on the foundations of job searching in Canada. Participants will:
Learn how to clearly present skills and experiences on a resume
Build confidence for interviews and networking
Understand what Canadian employers are looking for
Gain resources on how to start mapping out realistic next steps in their career journey
Workshop 2: Beyond the Resume(2:00 – 4:00 PM)
In this afternoon session, participants turn lived experience into resume-ready skills and stories. They will:
Translate volunteer work, caregiving, community roles, and other life experiences into concrete skills employers recognize
Practice telling their stories in ways that feel honest, grounded, and aligned with their values
Connect with employers and mentors, hear real career stories, and learn about key employee rights and resources in Alberta
Ask questions in a supportive, community-centred space
Who this is for
Anyone who is job searching, new to Canada, preparing for their first roles, changing directions, or wanting to feel more confident and informed about “what’s next” in their work and life.
