Brown Alumni Circle of Support - Dream Tank

This alumni gathering is a small, conversational space bringing together Brown alumni and students who are currently participating in a two-week Dream Tank Systems Change Lab.

The Lab is unfolding in direct response to the tragic shooting on Brown’s campus on December 13. In the days that followed, students began asking not only how to respond in the immediate aftermath, but how institutions and communities might better support safety, communication, and trust over time.

Rather than rushing to conclusions, students chose to slow down and listen carefully to lived experience, using the Lab as a space to reflect, imagine, and build more thoughtful civic responses. Working alongside mentors and experts, they are actively exploring how communities navigate disruption and what conditions help people heal and move forward together.

During the conversation, students will share early-stage work currently in progress, including explorations around a campus safety communication tool and the development of a Heal–Dream–Build toolkit—a repeatable framework intended to help communities respond to crisis with care, reflection, and civic agency.

We’re looking forward to a thoughtful exchange between students and alumni—one grounded in listening, reflection, and shared curiosity. We hope this conversation creates space for alumni to engage with students’ in-progress thinking, offer perspective where helpful, and reflect together on how communities respond to moments of disruption with care, responsibility, and resilience.
