​Three Ideas About Progress is a lecture mini-series from the Toronto Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge presented by Daybreak Studio.

​Defining the World: Progress’s Procrustean Bed

​In this second lecture we will look at the unintended but necessary consequences of progress. In what ways does progress ignore the edges of our world and harm us in the process?

​Much of the discussion will be pulled from the works of James C. Scott in "Seeing Like a State", Ivan Illich, and C. Thi Nguyen's work on Value Capture.

​After the lecture we will be hosting a social hour with drinks, and vinyl spinning. There will be music, good vibes, deep conversation and maybe even dancing? No matter what it's going to be groovy.
