About Event

In today’s complex and distributed organisations, leadership can no longer rely on title, hierarchy or positional authority alone. The real work of leadership increasingly happens in the spaces between formal structures — where influence, trust, credibility and shared purpose determine whether people align, collaborate and act.

The Politics of Power and Purpose explores how contemporary leaders can move beyond traditional models of authority and engage more consciously with the political realities of organisational life. Rather than treating power as something to avoid or dominate, this dialogue invites leaders to examine how power operates in their own ecosystem: who holds it, how it is used, where it becomes stuck, and how it can be redirected towards collective purpose.

Through reflection and discussion, participants will consider whether legacy power structures remain fit for purpose in today’s environment. The session will challenge leaders to shift from authority-driven leadership towards purposeful influence — building trust, aligning stakeholders around shared values, and developing leadership capacity in others.

This webinar is designed for leaders who want to lead with greater clarity, credibility and collective impact in environments where formal authority is no longer enough.

Participants will explore:

  • Why positional power alone is insufficient in complex organisations

  • How informal influence shapes decision-making, alignment and momentum

  • The difference between using power to control and using power to create purpose

  • How leaders can build trust, credibility and stakeholder commitment

  • What it means to lead politically without becoming political

  • How to develop leadership capacity beyond the individual leader

Join us for a practical and provocative Leadership Experiment dialogue on the evolving relationship between power, purpose and leadership impact.
