Neurodivergents Unite September 2025
Overall purpose:
To provide a safe space free of judgement where neurodivergents (millennials and Gen Z)from all backgrounds can gather together, have insightful discussions, share ideas, and connect. It's also free!
Who is this for?
This group is primarily aimed at Millennials and Gen Z who are diagnosed with or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition. These include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, among others.
Duration: 2.5 hours
The event is divided into three rounds:
Round 1: Ice-Breaker Dialogue
Attendees will answer card prompts in small groups. If time permits, they can answer them all, and go their own direction in the discussion. These prompts are mostly light in tone.
Round 2: Wordplay
This round will involve a word constraint game. Here are a couple of choices to choose from(popular vote on the day of meetup will be played):
Option 1: One minute per letter: Players must speak consistently through this game. One person in the group will keep a timer for 27 minutes and track the others’ talking. The catch is, that for every minute that passes, one more letter of the alphabet can’t be used, starting back from z. For example, after minute 1 passes, you cannot say any words with the letter “z”, then after 2 minutes, no words with the letter “y” or words with its sound (“why”), and so on until “e” is reached.
i. A player is out if they say a word with a letter that is forbidden.
ii. A player is also out if they do not make a full sentence each minute(up to letter “e”). From “d” onwards, sentences aren’t required anymore. Simple utterances are allowed, such as animal sounds, but remember that they can’t contain forbidden letters.
iii. Players can make noise or say whatever they’d like to try and trip up others.
Option 2: Two-minute letter burst
Two dice will be rolled. One person will need to keep a timer set for two minutes at a time.
i. If the number is even, a random consonant will be removed from permitted speech during the two minutes. If a player uses a word with the letter or it’s sound, they’re out.
ii. An odd number makes it so that no words can be used that rhyme with a word that the dice roller chooses. Players who say a word that rhymes, will be out.
iii. If you don’t make at least one full sentence every 30 seconds, you are out.
Round 3: Deeper Discussions
Like Round 1, this round involves being in groups and answering prompt questions. However, the questions are more serious in nature, and are mainly related to aspects of life as a neurodivergent.
End:
A closing discussion and upcoming announcements.
Breaks and sensory accommodations: There will be breaks lasting around 5-10 minutes in between rounds to give people time to decompress and loosen up before the next round.
People are encouraged to excuse themselves as needed during a round to take a sensory break. Also, fidget/stim toys are encouraged if they help. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. Of course, if you need to leave the event early for any reason, that is completely understandable.
