Dialogue: How to talk about Palestine at work?
Many people struggle with what is happening in Palestine but do not know how to talk about it in their work environment. They are afraid of saying the wrong thing or being accused of politicizing the workplace.
And yet, what is happening in Palestine has profound impact on most of the freedoms we take for granted in the Netherlands and other countries like the UK. It can impact our freedom of speech, human rights, and democracy itself. For an organization or company, it’s critical to understand the potential risks for complicity in war crimes, infringement on people’s freedoms, and managing personnel and safety at work.
About the Dialogue
This event is hybrid, only a limited number of seats is available at the venue. Please indicate if you want to join the event live (Amsterdam - location to be decided), or if you will join online.
This dialogue brings together leaders from the private sector, government, regulators, industry, civil society, research, media and affected communities to explore the question:
How can you talk about Palestine at work?
Together we will discuss:
How have organizations managed to make progress in addressing this sensitive topic inside their organization?
How can an organization understand its risks and mitigate against them, while still upholding people’s individual rights?
What is the basic information you need to know to have constructive conversations about Palestine?
What’s the right format to help everyone engage and feel safe?
Who can support you in your journey and what more can you do to gain confidence on this topic?
If you have ever felt stifled by this issue and want to know how other people have addressed these sensitivities, while making constructive progress inside their organizations, this HER Dialogue is for you.
Contributors & "Firestarters" include Sam Baker and Dr. Annabel Beales from Business Leaders for Peace, and Animah Kosai from the Speaking Up Network.
